Through the windows

I don’t shoot street photography though I like it a bit. I don’t know why I don’t shoot. Maybe I just like to be at home and to work at home. Anyway, I like to communicate with people (yes, sometimes it happens) and it happened that several people I… actually don’t know but with whom I had a talk made a street shooting meet up. In New York. And I decided to join them somehow. Of course, I stayed in Tallinn but at least I went for a walk and made some street shots (I’m not sure it is in this genre!). And you know, I liked it 🙂 I used some Zenit which one old photographer lady gave to me. I shot Ilford Delta 3200 film and developed it in Fomadon R09… Though, I read before that it gives awful results. Awful means very grainy. It is accepted to get rid of the grain, and I’ve already forgotten how the grain fucking looks like! So… you’ll have a fantastic chance to see it now… don’t run away! 😀 As for mistakes I see now that possibly I chose not right time for developing or not enough concentration of developer. Well, I made a half of a roll and then cut it off, so I still have a little less than a half to try it one more time with different concentration or time.

And… I wanted to thank people from Monochromia (in particular Joe Giordano) for making me went out out the street and photographer Galina Kuljus for a good camera.

        1. On the right you can see a merry-go-round. Usually it’s not here. But now on the square is Christmas market. And the square looks a bit different.

  1. Be careful Alena, shooting street photography is very addictive. I love all genres of photography but it seems like all I want to do now is shoot street for the rest of my life. I like your image a lot, the silhouette of the stationary person with the motion blur of the other silhouette passing by. It really hold my interest. Wonderful work. Oh I almost forgot thank you for mentioning me and our black and white photoblog 😀

    1. Thank you for your kind comment, Joe! I hope street won’t kill my will to shoot still lifes 🙂
The only problem is… I can’t see any people on this photo! 😆 Where did you see them?

      1. It was Neopan, I used it to photograph James Morrison in concert (2008) for a friend, they came out quite good, I’ll maybe do a blog post if I can find the negs or Tiff files. 😎

      1. I was talking with another architect the other evening and he was saying how he never includes people in his photographs. I started out that way, but have gotten to the point where I almost insist on people! For architects its almost a cliche of “no people”, such that our spouses have to learn to be photographers, otherwise our children will grow up without ever having their photos taken 🙂

        1. Well, I took pictures of people sometimes but it’s not that kind of photos I would like to share with others. It’s just for me and for these people. These shots are not arty but they are for good memories and that’s cool too.
