St. Alexander’s Orthodox Church

Last weekend I visited Tartu and I had a plan to see there 9 churches, St. Alexander’s Orthodox Church turned out to be the most beautiful and mysterious one. Hope you can see the things I saw that day.

      1. Is this film Alena? You’re so adventurous to do it the hard way. I can sort of understand but I always threw away 80% of my prints, not I only delete 79% of my RAW files.

        1. No, it was shot in digital. I think it’s ok that some of shots are thrown away. Even if one shoots film it’s all the same. Some frames wouldn’t be great. I made two shots of this church on middle format film, just because I have one roll of expired film and I decided to give it a try.
Thank you for calling me adventurous. To be honest I’ve never felt myself like that though sometimes I did crazy things.

    1. Hello, Art! Thank you for your comment!
I was in Riga once and I’m going to visit it again in October. I have no idea at the moment what I will do there but I will try to figure out now what church you mentioned 🙂

      1. Just look for the Golden domes shining in the sunshine (hopefully) you can get a good view of it and old Riga if you go up the tower of St Peter’s church. Wish I was going to Riga, next year I hope.

        1. Hope your wish will come true, Art!
I saw Riga from above, it seems it was the same place you wrote. But it was in March and there was snow somewhere. I think in October Riga looks different.

          1. Should be snow free, but who knows with climate change. I really miss the good quality food you can get in Riga, and the fantastic ice cream, not to mention the Alus 🍺😁

            1. Fantastic ice cream sounds intriguing 😆 Where is it sold? Unfortunately, I don’t drink alcohol ay all 🙂 I remembered that in Riga there is the same pizzeria which is in Moscow and there’s fantastic 4 cheese pizza.
I’ve never thought that I could enjoy gastronomic tourism 😆 but if the weather will be not good it’s a good idea too.

              1. Good ice cream is everywhere, my Auntie made me some with fresh strawberries from the garden wow. I have had pizza in Riga, much better than the UK. I want to try the food at the Fat Pumpkin restaurant in Riga, it’s vegetarian, which is good for me as I don’t eat meat anymore.

                1. I don’t eat meat for 11 years. But it isn’t hard for me. I eat fish now, though there was rather long period of my life when I didn’t eat anything connected with animals. Is it hard for you not eating meat?

                  1. I also eat fish but am trying not to. Not eating meat was not difficult when I think of the suffering of some animals. Can’t give up beer though but I only drink 2 or 3 glasses a month.

                    1. I used to drink a lot more when I was younger, but it takes too long to recover now (at my age !) I did have some zero alcohol beer in Latvia and it was really good, would have no problem to drink that all the time.
